Nothing says summer like a good beach day — or in my case, a little mountain lake escape. A few weeks ago, I spent 3-days at Lake Gregory, and it ended up being one of my favorite trips. The weather was perfect and the water was sub-zero. So what’s in my beach bag?
Here’s a look at the 8 beach bag essentials I brought with me (and totally recommend for your next lake or beach trip).
What’s in my beach bag – The bag
I used this bag that my little cousin got me from her trip to China since it’s perfect for summer and roomy enough to hold everything. Surprisingly the crochet made it easy to shake off any sand or dirt.
1. Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Lotion Sunscreen SPF 30: PLEASE WEAR SUNSCREEN OK?! I don’t care WHO YOU ARE and if you’re not using THIS one just use SOMETHING! When you’re under 30 years old, you still get sun exposure and damage but it doesn’t show until you’re around 30. And then when you get to that point, one day you’ll go see an esthetician for a facial because you just want to fix your skin, you know? And then they’ll say, “do you wear sunscreen?”, and you’ll be like “no…” and then they’re gonna be like “MHM” and then you’re gonna really regret it and have to write about it on a blog one day.
2. Hawaiian Tropic Island Tanning Dry Spray Oil SPF 25: Ok, we like to get tan here ok? SPF 25 is ok, right? I’m too scared to ask the esthetician so can someone tell me?
3. Abib Airy Sunstick SPF 50+: This goes on like BUTTER. The first time I used it, I wasn’t even sure if it went on my face cause it was just so smooth; it didn’t tug on my skin at all (like the Sunbum ones). I’ve had mine for a month and I think I’m nearly halfway through already (I use it everyday).
4. Fresh Sugar Rose Lip Treatment SPF 15: Your lips are skin too, you know. Protect them from the sun!
5. Camkory Digital Camera: My boyfriend got me this camera and I love it! At first I was like 🤨 but the pics are a VIBE. I wouldn’t recommend using in low light though, as there’s no real flash — just a weak ahh fill light. It’s just gotta be a daytime camera.
6. Portable phone power bank: Probably best to pack a power bank, especially if you have an old phone and/or you’re using the maps and navigation a lot. What’re you gonna do when your phone dies and you need directions and you’re in the middle of nowhere?
7. Mini hairbrush: This the the most useful thing for me other than sunscreen. My hair is going to get tangled if I tie it or not and it’s going to bother me once I get out of the water. Ignore if you’re bald.
8. Claw clip: Self-explanatory but don’t you love my brown hello kitty claw clip 🥺
What are your bag essentials?
I’m a serial under-packer and even though it could good for this bag essentials list, there have been times where I’ve gone on trips with no jacket or long pants packed. For the record, I was 15 years old and we were going to San Diego in October. I don’t know why I thought it wouldn’t be cold at night.
Even then, I always get the feeling I’m forgetting stuff, so let me know what essentials you would’ve taken in your beach bag and if you’re a lake or beach person!
